Is UWorld good for Nclex prep? ›

To answer this question, we surveyed thousands of UWorld users just like you who recently utilized the NCLEX QBank to prepare for their licensing exam. 90% of users report that UWorld's questions are the same level of difficulty or more difficult than the questions they encountered on the NCLEX.

UWorld alone is not enough. You should use UWorld along with these tips to effectively prepare for Step 1: Combine UWorld with other resources, such as First Aid and NBME self-assessments. Start with a small question pool at the beginning of each topic to determine which concepts you need to focus on the most.

They are similar in style but the UWorld questions are more difficult. If you are able to do decently well on UWorld you will breeze through the NCLEX. UWorld questions and NCLEX questions are similar in that they both test a nurse's knowledge and ability to apply that knowledge in clinical situations.

For most students, this means getting through three blocks of 40 questions per day, 5-6 days per week. Reserving 1-2 days per week to take a UWorld self-assessment exam or NBME practice exam and review it is also important because students must get a sense of their scores.

The average percentile performance for people on Uworld is 48%, so you're currently sitting just above average. I would continue working on questions, wiring out rationales for questions you get wrong & making a list of topics/disease processes/meds you're wanting to brush up on and study that.

58-60% is OK, a good sign is being consistently above the average scores. The Uworld package I bought came with 2 assessment exams.

NCLEX-PN Passing Standard

The NCSBN Board of Directors voted in December 2022, to uphold the current passing standard for the NCLEX-PN Examination. The passing standard will remain at the current level of -0.18 logits and will remain in effect through March 31, 2026.

Is 2 months enough time to study for the NCLEX? ›

How Long Should You Study for the NCLEX? To pass the NCLEX, students should plan to spend a minimum of 1-2 months studying.

I recommend taking at least eight weeks (or two months) to prepare for the NCLEX-RN Exam.

UWorld is unquestionably the best resource for the USMLE. Students have been known to score 270+ on USMLE Step 1 just by using UWorld and First Aid. There are also students, however, who have gone through the question bank 3 or more times, and can't seem to get a passing score on the exam.

“If you want to do well on USMLE Step 1, do two passes through UWorld.” Any medical student can tell you that this advice is as ubiquitous as it is overwhelming.

The current USMLE minimum passing score for Step 1 is 194. The USMLE program has announced that score reporting for Step 1 may change to pass/fail as early as January 2022.

So I would recommend to get Uworld early and do 10 questions for each day when you relax or just get exposed to the questions. I normally did 10 questions on my bed before I go to sleep.

UWorld does not repeat or rephrase their questions.

But perhaps the crowning glory of the course is the almost 100% pass rate in NCLEX exams. The success is due to a combination of factors – simplified and strategic study materials, insightful practice questions, and the highly accurate NCLEX simulator, SIMCLEX.

Here are the results from this year's NCLEX Success survey: 90% of students report that UWorld questions are the “same difficulty” or “more difficult” than the actual NCLEX exam for which they were studying. Students with a QBank average of 56% or higher had a NCLEX pass rate of 92.2%.

If you're making/doing excellent Anki cards, you might top out at doing 80-120 questions/day. However, while you will find people who (productively) do more than 120 UWorld questions in a day, they are often not doing Anki.

How many questions do you need to practice before NCLEX? ›

When studying for the NCLEX, a good idea is to set a practice question goal for yourself to observe and answer a certain amount of questions before exam day. We recommend that you complete about 2,800 practice questions before your exam.

Someone on here started a rumor that the 68th percentile means you have a 68% chance of passing the NCLEX. That is not what that means. It means you are 68% better than the majority of people that have taken that same assessment. My nerves were starting to get the best of me.

The MCAT score range is 472–528, with an average score of 500. Percentile data from the last three years shows that a score over 510 is better than more than 78% of test takers. The average MCAT score for matriculants was 510.4 in 2017–2018, 511.4 in 2018–2019, and 511.5 in 2019–2020 and 2020–2021.

What is a good percentage on Uworld? An 87% is quite solid - its indicative that you are able to understand the passages, have a good grasp on concepts, and know the details quite well. A 96% on the sample test is also a good indicator.

If you are getting above 50% on Uworld you will be fine, just keep reading rationales because that is the most important part.

Students with a QBank average of 56% or higher AND scored “high” or “very high” on a self-assessment exam had a pass rate of 96.4%.

Notice of such review and any adjustments will be posted on the USMLE website. The percentages of correctly answered items required to pass varies by Step and from form to form within each Step. However, examinees typically must answer approximately 60 percent of items correctly to achieve a passing score.

In order to get an ABIM passing score, you need to score at least a 366, which is 64% of questions correct on the ABIM exam. The 2021 ABIM certification pass rate was 88% and the maintenance of certification exam pass rate was 95%.

The first assessment I scored in the 85th percentile and the second assessment I scored in the 89th percentile; both equating to a "very high" chance of passing the NCLEX. All in all, UWorld prepares you VERY well for NCLEX and it's predications are right.

What are good signs you passed NCLEX? ›

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) reports 13.43% of NCLEX-RN candidates fail the exam on their first attempt. The number of unsuccessful test-takers is low compared to the more than 86% who pass the exam on their first try.

Failing the test can result from not answering the minimum amount of 60 questions within the allotted time. You can answer the first 59 questions correctly, but you will automatically fail the exam if you don't reach number 60.

So, you're about to take the NCLEX, don't sweat you are in great hands with UWorld. I gave myself TWO weeks to study and I passed the NCLEX with 75 questions.

The amount of time that you choose to schedule in your NCLEX study plan can be highly subjective from person to person — but on average, it is recommended that a nursing student aims to study at least 3-5 hours a day (excluding days off) while they prepare for the exam.

The NCSBN published a study that showed that the optimal time to prep for NCLEX is about 45 days . . . so if you've got a good content base - you should be fine with a 6 week NCLEX study plan.

First time test-taker

If you are taking the NCLEX for the first time, it will take about 2-6 weeks to prepare after you graduate. Never wait longer than 3 months after you have taken your last nursing test to take the NCLEX. You will easily start to forget information.

Recommended study times may vary depending upon the level of preparation needed and can range anywhere from four to twelve weeks or more. Although this article provides a guide to studying NCLEX in one month, it is highly recommended you allocate more than just four weeks to prepare for your exam.

If they fail, they'll need to wait 45 days before retesting. After failing three times, though, they'll need to complete a board-approved remediation program before the next retake. Candidates have six attempts to pass in total.

Is 3 months enough for USMLE? ›

Most USMLE Step 1 test-takers suggest you should begin studying at least 3 months before the exam to get the best results, but 6 months is optimal.

A CBSE score of 70 is approximately equivalent to a score of 200 on the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) Step 1.

Goal: Pass

Some of these are students who have struggled on practice exams to answer more than 60% of the questions correctly (the approximate passing limit) or have failed previous attempts at Step 1 or Step 2 CK. For these students, failing to pass could preclude licensing and advancement in their clinical training.

If this is your first time ever exposed to UWorld, then UWorld is actually a very prognostic exam for the purpose of estimating your Step 1 performance. Scores of 32/40 or 80% on your first attempt at random blocks of UWorld is very strong performance.

Problem Explanations & Performance Metrics

Although Kaplan provides the better overall practice question quality, we actually think the UWorld problem explanations are better. Their answer explanations are filled with awesome graphics, vivid diagrams and tons of detail.

The NCLEX is not about knowing so much information, its about answering questions in many different topic areas. Thats why UWORLD wins out, its 1900 questions of all the topics you need to know with rationales that are just brief enough to have a pretty good understanding to answer an easier question about it.

The NCLEX is scored using dichotomous scoring, so you can either pass or fail the exam. Currently, to pass the NCLEX-RN, the standard is 0.00 logits–or answer questions correctly at least 50% of the time. The NCLEX-PN standard is -0.18 logits.
